I’d like to make this blog a sort of substitute for Myspace, I have a major myspace migrane, I was never able to get into the whole  “social  networking” thing and the only value I find in it is the bulletins, most of which I see way too late anyway.  Kudos to those bands that text and call to get people out to the shows! In the meantime, I’ll just copy an edited version of the content here into the myspace blog area.

I’m often available for live shots on the weekends, email, text, or call if you want me to come out and shoot your show.  Rates and terms are reasonable.

That’s it’ for now, next posts will probably be about some of the shows and bands that are posted on the site.  I need to clean up my contents page, things get crazy and there’s no time to organize chronologically, but it’s on the todo list.

These are from Rock Wine & Blues out in Humble, cool venue, some light on the stage (is there ever enough really LOL) and a great band out of Austin.  Some of you may recognize the band members

Next up will be Scale The Summit, I did those to accompany the video that my friend Paulie shot for them at the Warehouse.

Saturday was by far the longest and hottest day I spent at the Bayou. It was hotter than the deepest pits of hell and by then I was running on empty with only a few hours sleep the night before.   I didn’t eat much of anything all day because it was just too damn hot.  Photos By Trish enthusiastically endorses Maybelline Turbo-Lash Waterproof Mascara and the Revlon Color-Stay product line

I arrived just in time to catch Britney Fox, and I’m really glad I did. They played a strong set, including a cover of “Hair of the Dog”.  Took some shots of them with Lynae afterwards then made the long journey to the Ego Drink Stage to see my friends Wolfeblitzer.

Wolfeblitzer did really well and had a good crowd despite the heat. Shot most of their set then retreated back to the press tent for some water and a/c.

Next up for me was Great White. They were in fine form and looked like they were having a great time onstage.

Next was Dokken. There were some issues with the mic, but all in all sounded good.

Lita Ford was next at about 7:15. Lita just recently started playing out again, from what I understand, so her set was highly anticipated.

After Lita’s first two songs, I made my over to the Bud Lime stage to wait for Vain. They should have been on the main stage. Lighting was erratic, lots of red but at other times not too bad. By then it was starting to cool off a bit and they drew a large crowd in the field. This was my first time to see them although I have the CDs. Davy Vain was all over the place and the band was full of energy. Wish they’d come back ASAP.

Well there was no way I was going to tear myself away from the Vain stage, so I missed Sammy Hagar’s first two songs and decided to call it a night. Went back home for some much needed sleep and had to get an early start Sunday, didn’t want miss Black ‘N Blue in the a.m.

I arrived a bit later than I intended to but in time to catch Victim. They’re very good and I’d never been able to see a full set until Friday. They’re very good and I hope to be able to catch them soon at a regular venue. Check them out at the Victim myspace.

After that, I made my way over to Busted on the Ego Energy Drink Stage. It was a long way between stages, especially in the heat and carrying my camera stuff. They did great, even though they must have felt like they were playing in a BBQ pit.

After Busted, I made the journey back to the Bud Lime stage where I found Lynae of Rock Music Promotions and Hank of Metal Music Promotions. Took some shots for them of the promo team with Ronny Munroe and Azraels Bane.

There was some confusion at this stage as to who was up next.  The schedule I printed had Black List Union, someone in the crowd said Dirty Penny was coming up.  My old friend, drummer Keith York was there, his band was supposed to play that stage too. Hopefully it worked out for Keith, my printout had the Guppies on at 8:15 later that evening.  Turns out it was Faster Pussycat, who had apparantly had some transportation problems earlier and missed the main stage slot scheduled for 12:30 that afternoon.  I love Faster Pussycat and listen to them all the time so  I stayed and shot the band as long as I could before I had to leave for the trek back to the main stage for Ratt.

Taime

This was my first venture into the photo pit at RTB. I missed Skid Row, but saw them not long ago in Victoria with Adrenaline Factor and was very impressed. The stage was about as tall as I am, so I’m thinking, that’s not good, but I managed to work around that. We were only given the first two songs after which we were herded out of the pit and back into the general population.

Met up with fellow photographer Nicollete and we went over to VIP for awhile to cool off. Then we walked around the grounds and got some night shots of the grounds. It was quite pretty at night; they had a ferris wheel and other carnival type attractions.

Queensryche was up next at 9:10. Back into the pit for two songs, then I left for home to download and edit the day’s work.

Main Stage

Marq Torien and Tracii Gunns followed by Dirty Penny did a few for sound check. Marq and Tracii did a few Zep covers that sounded really cool. Always been a huge Bullet Boys fan, Marq sounded good and looked great.

I’ve heard alot about Dirty Penny, glad I got see a bit of what they do – and I like them. They played the Meridian afterparty show tonight but I missed out on that one.

Got stuck in the Texans game traffic on the way back, stay away from Kirby if it’s “game on”. Tomorrow will be interesting: Troublemaker, Busted, Faster Pussycat, Y & T, Azraels Bane, and Dirty Penny. Hopefully I’ll be there in time for Jetboy and Faster Pussycat, depending on parking and traffic. There is a designated parking lot for press, I just have to find it.

One thing I definitely want to do is go up in the helicopter and get some aerial shots.
